during the education in the vocational high school he starts to feel giddy and have headaches. The diagnosis displays brain tumour. An immediate surgery. A year later, during his final exams – another surgery. After the two surgeries his condition is getting worse, deficits and ailments such as leg paresis, face nerve paralysis, problems with speech and keeping balance occur. Intensive rehabilitation helps to overcome some of the symptoms. The changes are immune to chemo and radio-therapy. The doctors want to proceed with surgeries once a year. Wojciech resigns from this offer, after all not so long ago he took part in the national racing championships and was a happy teenager with passion to cars. He decides to avail from the other treatment methods: Chinese medicine and macrobiotic diet. Another bad news was announced last year... Warthin’s tumour, another surgery. It succeeds, Wojciech slowly recovers and meets a wonderful woman – Ania. He starts a family, has two daughters – Ola and Wiktoria. Nowadays, he successfully works in the motor business and is a graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Gdańsk.

Piotr Topolski, just before taking up his first job heard the diagnosis - seminoma. This word sounded quite abstract to Piotr and his close relatives, after all he had observed that one of his testicles is enlarged before. A decision about immediate removal of the testicle is made. After the abdomen tomography it comes out that there are metastases into the lymph nodes (up to 4,5 cm big). Piotr comes through 4 cycles of chemotherapy BEP, which made the lymph nodes smaller. The doctors propose another surgery - this time removing all the enlarged lymph nodes. Piotr does not give up, fights and wins the fight with cancer. After recovering he accomplishes to defend his masters on the Gdansk University of Technology. Nowadays Piotr works as an building engineer. He has trained amateur mountain cycling for 16 years, takes part in many competitions and his free time is devoted to mountain hikes - mostly Tatra mountains. He has already been to the Alpes, but one more dream is still left to fulfill - Mont Blanc. He would like to join our team to show, by his presence, that after tumour normal life is possible. It is as possible as training cycling like Lance Armstrong, working and fulfilling the most important objective for a man - becoming a father... this dream is going to fulfill in September for Piotr.

graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Gdańsk, has been climbing for 22 years, alpestrine instructor of the Polish Alpinism Association, has taken part in many expeditions to the Himalayas, Andes, Alps. Triple achiever of McKinley and twelvefold of Mont Blanc. Wojciech is responsible for the mountain action during the expedition.
